WHAT IS WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT?

Website development encompasses the various tasks performed to developing
websites for hosting via intranet or internet. This process includes web design, web
content development, programming or coding language and network security
configuration, among others.

Website development encompasses all the actions, updates, and operations required to
build, maintain and manage a website to ensure its performance, user experience, and
speed are optimal.

How to develop a website?

There are mainly three different ways of developing a website:

  1. Coding, – PHP, Python, HTML & CSS, Ruby, Javascript and many others.
  2. Website builder, – a drag and drop tool usually comes free with most hosting packages. Website builders
    do have some limitations though.
  3. CMS System, – Drupal, Joomla, WordPress or Magento.

For the purposes of this training, we’ll focus mainly on WordPress as the main choice of developing our websites.

WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT CYCLE:

There are mainly three kinds of Web developer specialization:

  1. Front-end developer, – responsible for behavior and visuals that run in the user browser.
  2. Back-end developer, – deal with the servers and database functionality of a website.
  3. Full-stack developer. – multi skilled with front-end & back-end.

For purposes of this training, we will focus more on the functions of the front-end developer using a CMS like
WordPress.
